I am Aka-Sahan Kourouma, the founder and owner of the original Sahan Motherland African Hair Braiding Salon & Spa located in the heart of Hyde Park, Chicago, Illinois over 25 years.

I now have my own studio in the Chesterfield area. Originally from Côte D'Ivoire, Africa, where I began my entrepreneurial journey. While in College, I was always talented in braiding hair at an early age. I later relocated from my country to New York where I obtained my Cosmetology license.

I also studies Science and Biology. I decided to further my education and expand my business by moving to Chicago where I received my Post Graduate Certificate in Skin, Hair, and Body work.

I opened my salon and spa. I am Specializing in natural haircare, clinical massage therapy, skincare treatments, I provide all natural products for my clients and those seeking an alternative route for individuals who have conditions that prevent them using chemicals.

I cater to those with hair loss from alopecia, heat and/or chemical damage, and many other skin conditions. I have been serving the community for many years putting passion and purpose into my work in the Health and Beauty industry focusing on promoting natural wellness.

My purpose is to bring out the best in everyone who desires my services. My Dream Cost me time away from family and friends, education fees, business expenses, and endless hours of non-stop work but making a name for my brand and myself was worth it as I have been stapled as the “Go-to” for all natural Beauty and Health services in Chicago, Illinois.
